Internship Background
CoStar Group is innovating the real estate industry by creating a state-of-the-art collaborative marketplace with Homes.com to assist millions of people in finding their dream home. The Homes.com team, under CoStar Group, is undergoing a comprehensive redesign and relaunch of their platform on web and mobile applications with the goal of revolutionizing the home-buying experience. I was fortunate to join the Homes.com team as a UX/UI Design Intern during the redesign process. I had the opportunity to work on a business model case study which included various projects and collaborate with project managers, directors, interns, and researchers to improve the user experience and optimize the platform's efficiency.
My Impact
1.
Designed solutions that seamlessly integrated across teams, resulting in a cohesive and unified product experience.
2.
Shipped full end-to-end flow within a short timeframe, collaborating with cross-functional team across all stages, from research, design, to execution.
3.
Constructed a case study and proposed an initiative for enhanced homes recommendation
4.
Standardized both mobile and desktop Figma files to be compliant with the new design system
Learnings
1.
Sharing low-fidelity explorations and visual references helps in communicating with cross-functional partners, such as engineers, product managers, and UX researchers, about the feasibility and timeline of initial ideas.

Organization Description:
Name of Nonprofit:
Healing4Heroes
Website: https://www.healing4heroes.org/
Mission:
Healing4Heroes is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to assisting our military service members and veterans lead healthy, productive lives. Our objective is to connect wounded service members, as well as those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury, with A.D.A. compliant service dogs.
Healing4Heroes has dual purposes in that it serves the community by helping military personnel and veterans as well as local animal shelters by rescuing suitable dogs.
Problem Overview:
The nonprofit aims to provide service dogs to veterans at no cost by offering a trainer program so that local rescues can become ADA compliant service dogs under the care of veterans needing assistance.
The NP has difficulty getting information from the veterans in their service dog training program. For example, the NP needs to know their class (i.e. private, general, etc.) in order to speak with them correctly so they are given the treatment they expect and deserve. The NP also has problems with veterans not revealing their full health information or providing their DD214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty), which is necessary when trying to understand how a service dog can best aid an individual.
Furthermore, a veteran’s health information can change after the start of the program. For example, the NP has found that many veterans come off of pain medications after a year of having a service dog. Without current information, the NP is not able to cater to the veterans in the most effective way. This is especially frustrating because veteran health information can be pulled digitally.
Current Process:
The NP currently asks veterans to provide their own health information either by paper or by word of mouth. Unfortunately, this information may not always be accurate because the veteran may not provide some health info or the information may be outdated. All of this information is either kept on paper or filed in folders on a drive, which makes it difficult to access when needed.
